It's been happening since the world started. Bad chasing good, good vs evil. God has chosen people to follow Him and obey Him and Evil has chosen to kill, hurt and persecute those who do good. This is not a political or religious stand point of view, it is just flat out evil loves to do bad things vs good wanting to do good things. So generally speaking, the strongest controls the weak, the meanest submits the meek and so on. Nowadays nothing has changed, many people around the world are persecuted for their beliefs in God.
