Today’s show is all about self-awareness; what it is how it can benefit you and how to develop it
So, What IS “self-awareness?”
A conscious knowledge of one's own character, feelings, motives, and desires.
Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, and your attitude and your responses to them in the moment
Why develop self-awareness?
It is without a doubt the only way to begin the process of change and self-mastery. If you want to be a better person, or do things differently, you must first become self-aware, if only at a beginner level.
There are levels to this whole self-awareness thing.
Beginner - Aware of what thoughts you’re thinking, WHILE you are thinking them
Advanced – Aware of the thoughts you’re thinking and how you feel about your thoughts in that particular moment.
Expert – You can shift your attention to your emotions, how it is affecting you physically and begin to change your thought process at that moment and ultimately how you feel.
Different situations can influence how self-aware you are at that moment
Maybe you are an expert of self-awareness in a calm state, but in a stressed state, you might shift to an advanced or beginner level of self-awareness. Where we are on the spectrum changes depending on other factors during the day.
