This series of poems follows the love life of Grace, the daughter in Kate Kelsen's The Wilted Rose, which is based on my life. This poem picks up the story of Grace when she was 17, going on a holiday to a youth camp with her brothers at the end of her first year of full-time work.
It turned out that Grace was the last to discover that the spunkiest, most popular guy at the youth camp was interested in her. "Why would he be interested in me?" she thought to herself. A few guys during her high school years showed interest in her, but that was nothing out of the ordinary for an average high school girl.
It was awkward enough being the new kid in town, but now this unsolicited attention. Beverley Joy.
