Hi, I'm Beverley Joy of Simply Story Poetry. I wrote this poem in 2013, after I had been robbed of several thousand dollars worth of possessions. It was the few treasured possessions amongst the items stolen, that were of no value to the theif but of great value to me, that hurt the most. It took many months before I could move on from the anger and pain of loss that raged inside of me. This poem was the last of three poems that I wrote over this incident to help me process the emotions of loss and the invasion of privacy that theft causes. I was determined to take back from the thief my peace of mind and my hope in love and kindness. This poem is based on the Bible verse of The Golden Rule, found in Matthew Chapter 7 verse 12, 'Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.'
