Description

Empty Nest Syndrome. This poem expresses my pride and acceptance as my young adult daughters leave home. It acknowledges the challenges they will face while conveying hope for the future. The poem captures the bittersweet emotions of letting go and moving on to a new phase in life.

I wrote this poem after my young adult daughters left the family home. It expresses my pride, support, and acceptance while acknowledging the inevitable challenges ahead, for them and me. I cut the apron string and relinquished control, left with fond memories of the past and hope for their future. Beverley Joy

You're Moving On

As the day approaches
When you will be leaving
You’re moving on to live
In love and happiness.

I’m proud of you and wish you well
Though I know from experience that you will face
Some ups and downs emotionally
Some hills to climb financially.

But hand in hand you’ll be ok
Because you love unselfishly
You’ll find your way and settle down
Form a lifestyle of your own.

I must let go for both of our sake
You are all grown up, I must accept
I’ll miss you living in our place
But, we must move on to this new phase.
