Description

Here, I discuss feminism, trans-inclusive feminism, transwomen inclusion, queerness, and power in Janelle Monáe and Tessa Thompson in the music video “Pynk.” For the first five minutes, I offer a 2.5 minute update on the forthcoming Podcast and future guest readers, then offer a quick contextualizing discussion on the intersections of poetry, pop culture, spoken word, and print poetry to emphasize how these videos and podcasts might be used both in and outside classrooms and social justice conversations. Then, I spend ten minutes basically saying in ten different ways why “Pynk” can be a moment for a feminism that is not just trans-inclusive, but a feminism that in fact centers women of color and especially trans-women of color. I am currently taking questions, guest readers/conversationalists, and content suggestions. Hit me up on twitter.com/thepoetryvlog or via thepoetryvlog.com. This was transcribed from YouTube.
