The book of the Acts of the Apostles, written by physician and historian Luke, forces an issue, asking a tough, penetrating, hard-hitting question: “Why do you just stand there looking up at an empty sky?” (Acts 1.11).
Am I guilty of spiritual loitering... observing “an empty sky,” directing my energy and focus toward activities of little significance? Do I have an upward gaze, that is the appearance of spirituality without passion in my heart and fire in my soul? Have I become a comfortable bystander, an impotent pew warmer?
It's a fair question.
