Welcome to Word Traveler, a daily podcast that aims to transform lives by a daily encounter with God through His word. Word Traveler is a Bible reading initiative, and today Dave Scriven introduces the content of his daily podcast which will post Sunday through Friday of each week. He also discusses the devotional practice of "PB&J" (Prayer, Bible, and Journaling).
There are two hundred and sixty (260) weekdays (Monday through Friday) in any given year (52 weeks X 5 weekdays = 260).
Coincidentally, there are also two hundred and sixty (260) chapters in the New Testament. By reading just one chapter of the New Testament every Monday through Friday, starting with Matthew, chapter 1 on the first Monday of the year, you will finish the entire New Testament, concluding with Revelation 22 on the final Friday of that same year!
If you are a little more ambitious, you may wish to read the whole Old Testament in a year on this five day a week reading plan which you can find at www.wordtravler.org. Avid Bible students may wish to accomplish the entire Bible each year by simply reading both Old and New Testament columns in the Word Traveler reading plan.
There is nothing magical about reading the whole Bible in a year. The study of God’s Word should not be viewed as a competition or legal requirement for believers. You don’t HAVE to read the Bible. You GET to. Enjoy your time in the Scriptures. Anticipate an encounter with Jesus.
Very special thanks to the amazing and talented comic book artist, Paul Gulacy, who gave Dave permission to make copies of his print "The Spoken Law" as seen here in the Word Traveler podcast artwork. Thank you Paul!
