Today I will take great comfort from the words of the angel at the church in Smyrna:
“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer,” (Revelation 2.8).
“Smyrna” refers to suffering and death. Of one thing we may all be certain… we will die. Likely there will be some suffering attached to the event. “Smyrna” reminds us to prepare for the inevitable. We may suffer and will all certainly die, and yet, we have nothing to fear.
