Description

The Psalmist claimed to be "...forgotten, like a dead man... regarded as worthless, like a broken jar," (Psalm 31.12).

Perhaps that was God's plan all along. Jesus Christ alone defines my internal and eternal essence. He is the “very costly perfume” inside the “alabaster vial” of my being. I carry “this treasure in [an] earthen vessel” (2nd Corinthians 7.7). My essence is the content of the jar. But my jar must be broken to allow the perfumed oil and its aroma to spill out into the world. Lasting significance comes only through transparency and brokenness.
