- As we look at the world right now, we see a time of great need The Ukraine, China, Taiwan, The Other Western Nations, The Climate Emergency, Environmental Need, Displacement due to conflict, the refugee crisis, doubt in the democratic process as our government attempts to regain trust and integrity, the cost of living crisis: surely this is a time of need
- But centuries ago these Jewish Christians, different to us in language, understandings, lifestyles.
- Think of their lives burdened by absolute poverty, unsure what persecution would arise in the brutal Roman Empire.
- They were in a time of need.
- Some questioned whether their faith was enough, some were slipping away
- The writer challenges them to hold on to the precious gift of Jesus given to them
- He was tempted but held on to his god even when all had deserted him
- Draw close the writer says, don't turn back, hold fast and come with confidence to your saviour
