In today’s episode, Greg is joined by Nila Patel, Business Development Specialist at 513 Capital. Nila’s story is both fascinating and layered—she went from being a Gujarati Patel growing up in England to moving across the world to a small town in Missouri at the age of 12.
She had to quickly adapt to life in America as her parents purchased their first motel and began building it into a family business. Growing up living and working in the motel, Nila learned countless valuable lessons that shaped her path into a long-standing career in hospitality, and later, into commercial real estate and business financing.
Her wide-ranging skill set and deep business experience have helped shape her into the strong, independent business woman she is today. While she may have lost her accent over the years, she hasn’t forgotten what it felt like to be a 12-year-old girl arriving in America in search of opportunity—an opportunity she seized and transformed into her own American Dream.
