Most of the blame goes to the players specifically Lebron James and Kevin Durant, but honestly, the NBA is a league driven by its most popular players and stars. At the end of the day, the stars get what they want. Lebron left Cleveland in 2010 for multiple reasons one the inability to win and not having a strong supporting cast. He joined the Miami Heat and formed a Big 3 with him, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. But before that, the Boston Celtics had a big three of their own with Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. Lebron only won 2 of 4 titles in Miami. Throughout league history, the teams that have won championships have had one or two stars. You simply can't win without having another player on your team as good as you or even better. Kevin Durant joined a 73-9 Golden State Warriors team after losing to them in the Western Conference Finals the year before. It left a bad taste in fan's mouths, and the league wasn't as competitive as before. Nonetheless, the commissioner is the main culprit here because he allows trades to go through. Adam Silver does have the power to veto a trade or a potential buyout scenario. More can be done on his end, to continue to make the league competitive. Lastly, more needs to be done for the small-market teams who don't get as much exposure as the big market squads. Comment who you think is the most to blame.
