Faulkenberry about her 32-year career in the Air Force, which started in the Air Force Academy’s 3rd class to admit women! Barbara talks about her upbringing, some of her secrets to success in the military and attaining General Officer rank, and her work serving on numerous corporate boards. A running theme the LLC keeps encountering with its wonderful guests is the need for women to have a community of other women helping them along the way towards success in their careers. In addition to this, Barbara stresses a need for blending both masculine and feminine leadership attributes because both are displayed by truly great leaders. Also, being invested in your employees and their families are important qualities great leaders possess. People want to work for leaders who care about helping them move forward in their careers.
Barbara Faulkenberry is a senior executive with significant and diverse accomplishments across sectors ranging from aerospace/defense to transportation/logistics to executive/leadership development. Her experiences include strategic planning, international negotiations, risk assessment, governmental affairs, leadership development/succession planning, and supply chain management. Barbara is an independent director of three public companies and is National Association of Corporate Directors Board Certified. Barbara has led organizations as diverse as a 37,000-person global air logistics operation to the Air Force’s sole leadership development college for officers. An accomplished athlete, Barbara brings collaboration, communications, and a winning attitude into all endeavors.
