We get held captive in our thinking and our behaviour by lies. Those lies keep us from changing and growing, from becoming the “God directed” best version of ourselves.
Most people know that Jesus said in John 8:32 “and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” But we take that verse out of context, think we know the truth and are free, then we struggle with being captive and held back. That’s what Pastor Steven’s provocative message title “Devil, you’ve held me long enough” is all about. Being held by lies instead of being set free with the truth.
