Description

Episode 9 of the DEUCE Racing Podcast, with our very own Matt Fitzpatrick, is here! Matt, who received an MA in Curriculum & Instruction at CSUDH in May 2020, currently teaches high school science (Health, Physiology, and Biology), and is the co-lead within the Health Careers Academy, as well as advisor for the newly created Gay-Straight Alliance. Last year he supported students in their efforts to run the LA Marathon!

Part of what makes Matt's current role and impact as an educator so compelling is his diverse background -- in fields completely separate from teaching! As he transitions into a profession in LA, a city he is proud to have grown up in, Matt is eager to meet and learn from others who are cultivating an inquiry-based, social justice centered, culturally-responsive, tech-supported, and inclusive learning environment. He aims to “queer” science education, create an environment where students find affirmation in who they are, and know that despite feeling uncertain or certain about the future… that love, curiosity, and the ability to adapt can help each of us live as our most authentic self.

As always, we invite you to tune in, like, subscribe, and share with all your family & friends!
