Brianna is an elementary school art educator, teaching kindergarten through sixth grade. She says that she "doodles." She has convinced her students that she is equal parts mermaid and elf. She teaches her kids to create every day, always look for something beautiful, be moved by art, and how to identify different aspects within art. She aims to cultivate creativity and wants them to remember how important it is to make art.
"I would say an artist to me is someone who holds space for themself to do art...maybe owning the term is hard, but feeling it is easy. Because you can feel like an artist but not feel like you can own the term "artist"…I think allowing yourself to create is a big deal because even if you don't feel like you're good enough or if you don't call yourself an artist it's still important to somewhat make something even if it sucks. Allowing yourself to create art and give yourself that time…and space even if you don't think you should is super important." - Brianna Martinez
