Description

Concluding the first clash in our electro season, Kev takes us through the breakthrough album by the laser loving gallic synth-wizard Jean-Michel Jarre, 1976’s ‘Oxygene’.

As ever there’s plenty of ground for us to cover, including how the recording process was somewhat more low-tech than you might think (even for 1976), how the album’s unexpected success gave Jean-Michel Jarre a platform to develop his extravagant stage shows, and how, like ‘Autobahn’ last week, this album inspired and influenced much of what was to follow.

We also reveal a previously undiscovered (well, by us at least) link between these two albums.

Kev’s latest pick for ‘video killed the radio star’ has us looking at an all time classic from a behemoth of the new wave movement, and we reveal a rather surprising contributor to the video.

We also get to scoring our two albums to find out which of our mid-70s pioneers will emerge victorious from the ring of death, and Kev reveals which two albums will be the next to do battle.

Also this week:

This. Is. ALBUM CLASH!!
