And so our time in Detroit comes to an end - honestly this time. Having kicked out the jams last week, this week we welcome Iggy Pop back into the ring of death with his band The Stooges, to go through their self-titled debut from 1969.
As ever we talk through the background leading up to the album, from the band’s formation, where they drew their inspiration, and how the initial recording sessions didn’t go entirely according to plan. We also consider how this album was initially received, how it has since been reappraised, and how Iggy perhaps still doesn’t get enough credit for the album’s lyrical content.
In our latest ‘video killed the radio star we go through an all time classic - and find out what a legend of the animation scene was doing before he made it big.
We also find out which of our two albums will emerge victorious, and Tim reveals the next stop on our tour of famous musical cities (I promise it’s’ not Detroit!)
Also this week:
This. Is. ALBUM CLASH!!
