In this week's episode of We Love Outdoors, your humble host Rich Davenport brings you updates to the latest saga known as Sturgeon Point Marina.  Dredging is underway, the marina should be open for launching vessels and accessing Lake Erie by June 9, 2021, but the gas dock and the slips remain closed.  Residents are focused on correcting these two items as well.  Efforts of the residents are having a major impact, keep it up!  While we may have Sturgeon Point Marina open in time for the Southtowns Walleye Derby, the Buffalo Safe Harbor will be closing on June 17 for the "Thunder on the Buffalo Waterfront" Air Show, which runs June 18 (practice) thru June 20.  The closure of the marina and the harbor is for safety.  Unreal.  Why pick opening weekend of bass season?  Some things around here never change, it seems.  Speaking of boat launches, the Town of Tonawanda has eliminated their fee structure for the foot of Sheridan boat launched, called the Tonawanda Small Boat Harbor.  Rich also provides updates  to the progress for getting the local laws passed for counties to capitalize on the youth deer hunting pilot for 12 years and up to hunt deer with firearms.  Some bias again reared its ugly head from the Buffalo News, but then the editorial board wrote in support of the law.  A problem has arisen at Cassadaga Wind development, where transmission line boring encountered a serious issue, impacting the surrounding forest and wetlands!  Another big reason to support A.7756/ S.6314!  Well water has also been impacted, and the DEC is very silent on this spill and resulting contamination.  In the final segment, Rich provides some good news from South Dakota, the return of the Family Fishing clinics for 2021, and pays tribute to a fallen fellow angler, Beau Bachtelle.  Tight lines and horns up!
