Description

Julia Swaigen didn’t set out to be a leader; she fell into it. About 3 years ago, she founded Attuned Families, a child and family therapy and parent coaching practice in Toronto. Her business grew quickly, she hired more therapists, before she knew it, she found she had unintentionally become a leader.

Despite falling into leadership, Julia approaches leadership intentionally. Her company has a values document that she reviews with all new team members, and she ensures that she and her team live by those values. She openly discusses boundaries with her team – both hers and theirs – and does her best to respect them. She recognizes that therapy work can be challenging both mentally and emotionally, so she makes sure her team takes time for self care.

In this episode, Ashlee and Julia talk about the challenges and rewards of intentional leadership. How being a leaders is trying to do the best for your clients and the best for your team every day.
