Speaking of legacies, remember that, the better we are, the more we have to give! For example, here are some questions you should be asking yourself: What do I need to know in order to perfect my craft? How can I improve as a thought leader, business owner, employee, parent, etc? My guest this week is someone who continues to be an inspiration to all attorneys, including myself, and who was a huge influence in my decision to create my own course after having taken hers, and seeing how she was able to fulfill a need and create a resource that wasn't available anywhere else.
So who is this amazing guest? This week I had the pleasure of interviewing thought leader, educator, attorney, and entrepreneur, Sonia Lakhany, who has been featured on Bloomberg, USA Today, CBS, and countless other networks and publications! She is the Trademark Guru, and has multiple courses that teach aspiring trademark attorneys not only how to practice trademark law, but also the business side of being an attorney.
Sonia (like many of us who come from immigrant parents), didn't have much of a say in her career choice and was pushed by her mom to pursue law. She ended up gravitating towards trademark law because it was the only class in law school that really resonated with her. After graduating law school, she started filing trademarks for free to gain the experience, and her story ended up landing her a job as a trademark attorney, which was the stepping stone to the numerous firms she would go on to work for. After 5 years she decided that it was no longer serving her, and decided to quit and bet on herself! Although she didn't have a plan, she knew that whatever she did would be successful. She now has million dollar courses, is doing what she loves, and serves as someone that attorneys and people of color can aspire to be and learn from. Now that's an ambitious legacy!
