Hey friends, welcome to another episode of Sabine's Common Sense! Remember if you don't have any, feel free to use mine!

If you're like me and sometimes suffer from comparison syndrome, then you know what it's like to compare yourself to others, especially those your age and/or in your line of work. It's so easy to look at the success of others (especially on social media) and ask yourself, "Why didn't I have it all figured out from jump?" or "Why didn't I think of that great idea?" You may even regret some of the things you did or didn't do, wondering if you're lazy or if you just don't have what it takes. But this episode is the perfect example of how even if you have it all figured out, it doesn't mean it will go according to plan, and that being successful now, doesn't mean they had it altogether, they may have just landed at the right destination!

This week I got to chop it up with none other than Bianca Jordan aka the Brazen Lawyer! Bianca is an immigration attorney and owner of Brazen Legal Law Firm, and has known she wanted to be an attorney since she was just 12 years old! After a field trip in the 7th grade where her teacher was looking to break her out of her shyness and she had to reenact John Adams, it was the catalyst that made her decide that practicing law was the path she wanted to take. Bianca's story is definitely one that many can relate to, because although she knew who and what she wanted to be in life at such a young age, and did everything she was supposed to to get there, she didn't get there as quickly as she'd hope and the journey was nothing like what she expected.

As many attorneys do, she thought life after law school would be easier, but instead had a hard time finding a job, ended up homeless for a while, and had a lien on her bank account. Although she did everything right, she was sworn in with only $20 to her name and on public assistance. After not being able to purchase a slice of pizza and soda one day, she made the decision to start her own firm with the funds from a one day gig doing document review, printed some business cards and got her first client from someone who found her card. Bianca shares how she got to be the success she is today, the challenges she faced, how she had to learn to recognize her worth as an attorney, and some common misconceptions about immigration law.
