Description

In this episode, we get to look at my good friend, Alessia Salazar's journey with birth control. Specifically, we talk about Alessia's experience with Nexplanon also known as the arm implant. It was amazing to see how birth control is really not a  one size fits all kind of thing. Often times it takes individuals trying multiple forms of birth control until they find what works for them and Alessia's case was no different.

Alessia and I worked together at VPVA as advocates for interpersonal violence. Alessia attends Rutgers University and she is involved in everything under the sun.

Alessia gives us the inside scoop on her experience with Nexplanon. Although this form of birth control did not work for her that does not mean its bad. Everyone reacts differently to different birth controls and that's why its important to keep an open relationship with your doctor and let them know when something feels off. Alessia's story is a great one of advocating for yourself and sticking to your gut and always asking for what you need in terms of your health.
