Description

In this episode, I sit down with my wonderful and insightful friend, Janani, to talk about our favorite pass time conversation: discourse. Is discord dead? How do we make opinions? Where do we stand? Can/should you engage with people who you fundamentally don't agree with on a basic human level? Where is the line?

Janani was a Communications major at Rutgers University and now works at Capgemini as a consultant. Janani and I both tend to align more strongly with liberal ideologies than conservation ones, but that does not stop us from trying with all our might to see other sides and other opinions on things. When a story breaks, an Instagram post is shared or a new person is cancelled we tend to ask: Why? Who is seeming to gain? Who is seeming to lose? And what are the less obvious pieces of this story? (most of the time) We also find ourselves easily sucked into the easily cycle of clicking re-share without doing our own homework about an issue and that is the problem. It is so easy to do.

In this episode, we get to share our experiences with just that: the easiness of the re-share without the accountability. Janani, as always, was so open and honest and did a great job explaining her views and how she forms them!

What are your thoughts about discourse?
