This story’s about identity loss because of “vaccine” mandates. It describes angst due to a decision backed by the Nuremberg code and other moral, ethical and legal concepts. The story focuses solely on identity transition. We do not discuss views about the context itself. We recorded a few weeks before Thanksgiving 2021.
When she lost her job because of “vaccine” mandates, Susan McDonnell’s life trajectory derailed. She lost access to the main pillar of who she was and that provided fulfillment. Catapulted to a place she never in a million years imagined being, she’s questioning her value in society. “That part of me, my identity as a nurse — the skills, education and passion I had in that — defined why I was taking up space.”
At 56, Susan fell over a precipice into an abyss. Floundering, she’s in a place anthropologists call ‘liminality.’ She's no longer who she was. She doesn't know where she's headed or what the future holds. And she's in the dark about the gifts that so often come on the other side of identity transition. Learn from her as she builds a new identity, struggles with motivation, and explores belonging to a minority group that’s up against a wall.
Talking Points:
- How this identity loss trauma is vastly different from all her other traumas.
- What types of healthy distractions and support systems keep you afloat?
- The benefits of comparison as a coping mechanism.
- What to expect when no one’s going to save you.
- What’s the biggest way to let someone hurt you?
- The internal attitude you need to hasten your “Get over it stage” so you can do what you need to do.
- The importance of having outlets to relieve stress.
- The indignity of how much time in a day you can get triggered by stress.
- The magic of focusing on controlling the present moment and nothing else.
- The benefits of faith.
