The waffle has led to amazing opportunities to bring in experts from a range of fields to chat through all things nutrition and sport performance.
Our ultimate goal has always been to translate the science into practical tips that you can apply in your everyday lives.
This pod was born from a need to answer some important questions regarding genetic testing.
What is the place of genetic testing in sport, nutrition and overall health?
Who will find it useful?
When is it a waste of time?
Genetic testing typically involves sending off a sample away for analysis and receiving back a report which tells you a few key things about what you may want to change in your diet and lifestyle.
However, is it worth the investment?
Today’s podcast is all about chatting through the evidence, understanding where the research currently lies and deciding whether it’s worth the investment.
To have this conversation we have bought in someone who has a lot more experience on this topic than we do. Craig Pickering is an exercise physiologist who has completed his doctoral studies in genetic testing within sport.
He also comes from an athletic background so understands the unique challenges athletes face. Craig was a track sprinter for team GB but also worked in a genetic testing company prior to moving to Australia. He is now the athlete pathway manager for Athletics Australia.
This podcast really turns the research into real life experience making it super useful to you guys.
We have show notes on our blog at www.compeatnutrition.com where you can download all of the things we chatted about today including the key papers we mentioned in the podcast and any other interesting material.
