This first episode features the stories behind Lyons' beginnings in the 1830s, its success in the lumber industry because of its location on the river, and how Lyons and Clinton would become the Gateway to the West. In this podcast, learn more about Lyons' beginnings; Elijah Buell, the man who first settled on the land; how Lyons developed; and the legendary "Big Tree" that separated the two cities. Featuring Matt Parbs, director of the Clinton Sawmill Museum; Morgan Pannell of the Sawmill Museum; Gregg Obren, co-founder of the Clinton History Club; and Charlene Bielema, editor of the Clinton Herald.
