Sermon: “Spider-man & Responsibility” – Rev. Russell Clark

Spider-man was a superhero that almost didn’t get created. Stan Lee was told (1) you can’t name a superhero spider-man because people hate spiders, (2) a superhero can’t be a teenager, (3) readers won’t think he is heroic if you give him so many problems, (4) you can’t have a hero who is nerdy, and (5) you can’t have a hero who is always babied by his aunt. What spider-man gave us was a superhero we can relate to. We all have problems. We don’t all look like superheroes, but we all have God-given power within us. “With great power comes great responsibility.”
