The Author, Irina Dumitru is a 34 year old preschool teacher from Romania.
"Sophie, the Robot With a Soul" was first published in 2018 in Romania. School students do class projects based off of Sophie. She reedited it and published it through Cassius Publishing House in Romania.
Irina and her 11 year old son, Mihai, both worked together to illustrate this book as well as others. Irina has written and illustrated two other children's books in Romania including "Darius The Dwarf" and "Toothy Makes Pancakes". She illustrated "Luluca" by author Raluca Irimie.
Irina has also been published as a young adult sci-fi author of "Blue Fog" which is now available on Amazon. She is busy translating her newest young adult book from Romanian to English "Missing Genius" and it will be available soon on Amazon.
Mihai Dumitru, her son and illustrator, is an artist and wants to be an architect or interior designer. Passionate about Minecraft, he creates and builds incredible worlds and structures. He illustrated "Sophie, the Robot With a Soul" when he was only 8 years old. The cover illustration was done by another Romanian artist, but all of the illustrations inside of the book are Mihai's original art. He did illustrate the entirety of "Toothy Makes Pancakes", cover included. He is now 12 years old and his mother says "he is cool"!
