This week…The Justice for Gerard Movement welcomes back'
"Mr. Edward Sanders".... our guest speaker.
Topic: "Transforming the County Jail System."
What can be done to change the County jail experience that will be beneficial and transformative to those being held there.
The criminal justice system employs state‐ sanctioned violence to discourage and punish conduct that threatens the very fabric of civil society.
Most people in county jail have not been sentence, they are possibly awaiting their day in court. Many that get locked up in local jails charges are dropped or case get dismissed. Not everyone goes to Prison, yet from the moment you enter the local jail you are treated as if you are in prison.
Transformation of the County Jail System is envisioning a humane, equitable approach to criminal justice process that prioritizes prevention and care, and reimagines accountability through a rehabilitative lens, too create safe and thriving communities.
