When all else fails, find heaven under your mother's feet. Our guest Kison Patel hit rock bottom and did just that with his mom - which then propelled him into the world of Subway sandwich franchises, then business brokerage, and finally becoming and M&A pro.
Kison slapped us with a bad ass line: "Disrupt yourself or die." Though I personally practice that, I'm not gonna lie: sometimes I rather DIE! This dude Kison disrupts himself errryday - he now runs his own software company that makes M&A deals way more efficient (Founder and CEO of DealRoom & host of the podcast "M&A Science")
Kison & I exchanged brown kids war stories - he grew up running motels, I grew up fighting white power crazies at my uncle's gas station. Welcome to America! In the end, we both came out waaay stronger for it. Bottom line: owner's mentality is priceless.
