For what it may be worth, let me share with you a dream I had about exactly a year ago. It is the best dream I’ve ever had so I took time to write it down.

In it God was carrying me throughout the universe to show me what he had made and what people were doing.

In his arms we sort of “flew” from earth into space and as we passed what seemed to be a “planet” I asked if there was anything on it because the surface looked much like an empty ball. He said, “look” and as we drew near I could see lights of what was a vast city.

We came down to what seemed to be a porch from which we could look out on the myriads of stars much like you would see looking up on a clear night. In one area I observed a sea of stars and God said, “the earth where we came from is there.”

Looking out on that vastness I suddenly had a yearning to see Jesus so I asked him, “where is Jesus?” I immediately got two impressions simultaneously: one, that he was doing something somewhere in that vastness but that my time would come when he would come to me and, two, that at the same time he was with me right there in the presence of God who was right beside me.

Next thing I knew God was carrying me again and in an instant we were back to earth. As we were landing back on earth we actually startled a deer-like creature who bounded off but I could tell it ran off full of delight not fear.

It dawned on me suddenly how incalculably glorious it was to have the God of all creation carrying me in his arms to explore everything with him, and how much I was enjoying it. It was bringing me to tears when suddenly a bigger realization flooded my heart: how much more so God was enjoying carrying me and exploring with me, and how — beyond all measure — he yearned to do this with everyone.

The thought then occurred to me that he must feel terribly lonely that not everyone wants to do this with him.

I was just starting to say, “you must feel lonely that...” when — knowing what I was about to say — he began to sob so deeply that it was like unleashing an ocean of tears.
