Description

What makes the will of God so completely desirable? Our perfect joy and peace?

As I see it, the reason is that it embodies the intentions of a Being who lives to see everything he has created beautifully, joyfully, fully alive, a Being who desires that all his rational creatures continually experience every conceivable delight and pleasure.

This is so much so the case that not a one of his creatures could ever improve on God’s will even if given all eternity to come up with just one improvement.

Good can do nothing but what is good. Pure self-sacrificial Love can do nothing but what is the absolutely the highest and best for all that it loves.

God, by definition, is the greatest conceivable being, and, by extension, he never does anything that is less than what is always and everywhere at once the greatest conceivable good and wisest thing to do.

It is impossible for God to have set conditions up in his creation to be better than what they are. Even the freedom God has given to his rational creatures to defy him and his will and do evil is still the most loving, wise, and best conceivable arrangement for all his creatures to thrive in if they do his will.

This is why we can trust him and obey him with our whole heart.
