Here’s a life purpose I would consider worthy of everything we can possibly do achieve it: commit yourself to being an undefeatable blessing.

What’s that? It means that you are so irrevocably committed to benefiting everyone in your life that you allow nothing anyone can say or do against you — or what matters to you — to in any way alter your commitment to their wellbeing.

Just think about what that means in this non-committal, horror-show of a world we live in, if everywhere you go you show up as an undefeatable blessing. Does it get any better than that? Doesn’t your heart yearn for this?

I’m convinced that the key to this is what the Bible calls a “pure heart.” This requires keeping a sharp lookout for the thought-suggestions put forward by any desire that are at variance with that life’s purpose. If we entertain those thoughts then, in short order, they become a degrading alloy within us. Our attitude and manner no longer express the pure gold of being what we most purpose to be. If, however, we continually dismiss such thoughts we safeguard our heart and our single-minded attentiveness to being the person Jesus is calling us to be 24/7 — an undefeatable blessing to others no matter who they are or what they do.
