In Isaiah 41:13 we read that the Lord says, “I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
Every temptation is, in a sense, rooted in fear to where we are vulnerable to start trying to make something happen right now instead of relying on God to meet our needs, desires, interests, or to solve a problem. And as soon as we’re not completely relying on God — in whatever it may be — we are stepping into satan’s territory.
How do we know when we are totally relying on the Lord? Two words come to mind: believe and give.
We first believe that everything that matters to us matters to Him because He is our greatest friend and dearly loves us. So we give Him our needs, desires, interests, or problems. We turn them all over to him praying something like,
“Lord, all that I am and all that I am interested in is yours. Guide me to do whatever I need to do regarding what’s on my mind, help me ignore whatever I need I ignore, and protect me from doing anything I need to avoid.”
