Description

Everybody says discipline is so important

but they never want to tell you why.

I’ll tell you why discipline is so important.

It’s the strongest form of self love.

It’s ignoring something you want right now

for something better later on.

Discipline reveals the commitment you have to your dreams.

Especially on days where you don’t want to.

The future is you depending on the current you

to keep the promises you made to yourself yesterday.

“[Discipline is] the strongest form of self love.”

Disordered self-love

is a self-centered “me first” mentality.

True self-love

is caring for yourself

in such a way

that it helps you stay focused

on what’s ultimately important.

“[Discipline is] ignoring something you want right now”

What’s that?

Just to think of yourself — what pleases you —

regardless

of how it affects anyone else.

“[Discipline is] ignoring something you want right now

for something better later on.”

What’s that?

The ultimate importance

and sheer joy

of knowing that your life

makes things better

for everyone you meet.

Jesus put it like this: “It is more joyous to give than to receive.”

Living a life like that is the ultimate dream.

“Discipline reveals the commitment you have to your dreams.

Especially on days where you don’t want to.”

How committed are you

to other people’s happiness?

You are as committed

as you are faithful in saying “no!”

to just what you want,

and “yes!”

to what you know keeps you helpful.

“The future is you depending on the current you

to keep the promises you made to yourself yesterday.”

If you said to yourself,

“I want to live making things better for everyone I meet”

then your success tomorrow

is dependent on doing today

what you know keeps you helpful.
