Recently one of the young men in our youth group asked the question, “How do I know when I have found my purpose?” Here are some thoughts to reflect on in answer to that.
Matthew 7:13-14 (NET)
“Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it!”
“Do what is easy, and your life will be hard.
Do what is hard, and your life will become easy.” -Les Brown
1) reject the wide gate and spacious way => destruction
2) choose the narrow gate and difficult way => life
“I am the gate. If anyone enters through me, he will be saved, and will come in and go out, and find pasture.” John 10:9
“The athlete says no to foods and drinks and indulgent lifestyles that would interfere with his goal because he has first said yes to the goal of winning his race.” –Peter Kreeft
The more we practice the disciplines, the more aware we will become of our specialization: the specific and personal reason Jesus took hold of us. That is “winning the race” “the prize.”
“Not that I have already attained this — that is, I have not already been perfected — but I strive to lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus also laid hold of me.” -Philippians 3:12 (NET)
“Nobody else can do what God put you here to do — nobody.” - Ken Davis
Walk with Jesus and that wonderful calling will become increasingly clear.
