Description

In Galatians 6:7-8 (NIV) we read, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”

I’m convinced that our desires grow by being fed thoughts. If that is so, then we have an amazing proposition in front of us: we can decide what kind of person we want to become by deciding what desires we think about, that is, feed our thoughts to. Those desires we think about will get stronger, and by that I mean they will produce even more thoughts, more frequently about themselves.

I really think it is our thoughts that the Apostle Paul was referring to when he uses the language of sowing and reaping. We sow thoughts to the flesh, that is, to the desires of our self-centered self, and we reap destruction — a completely self-absorbed self. However, if we sow thoughts to the desires of the Holy Spirit, we reap a high quality of life — eternal life.
