2 Peter 1:3,4 — “… his divine power has bestowed on us everything necessary for life and godliness through the rich knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and excellence. Through these things he has bestowed on us his precious and most magnificent promises, so that by means of what was promised you may become partakers of the divine nature, after escaping the worldly corruption that is produced by evil desire.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 — “For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.”
Joshua 21:45 — “Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”
I think it could be said that all progress in the Christian life is determined by how relentlessly we apply the promises of God to every difficulty we face.
Take a moment to consider the following questions:
1) what are the three main difficulties I’m facing right now?
2) what is each difficulty suggesting to me is true?
3) what promise of God directly answers each suggestion to where if I filled my thoughts with it my peace of mind would be unshakable?
Here’s the situation: Nothing that happens to you or around you has any power to disturb your peace of mind without your mental consent, that is, without you agreeing with what the difficulty suggests is true instead of what God has promised you.
So who are you going to believe — you, and what you tell yourself is going on or could happen, or God, and what he has promised to do for you?
