John 15:17— "These things I command you, so that you will love one another."
Everything Jesus commands is in the interest of mutual, self-sacrificial love.
Take every commandment that Jesus gave and fast forward it to its intended result and you will find love for one another.
For that matter, it is inconceivable that Jesus should say or do anything that doesn't have love as its root, trunk, branches, leaves, and fruit.
Hence if anything in my life — anything I think, say, or do — is not directly or indirectly in the interests of being more loving, and helping others more consistently, then I am at that point out of touch with Jesus.
