Description

See yourself on a ship in a terribly stormy sea. The wind is raging and waves are crashing on the sides of the ship and up and down it goes with the huge swells of water.

Here’s the principle: to the precise degree that that ship is unsinkable under those conditions, you are unsinkable if you stay on board.

Here’s the point: Knowing Jesus, and being one with him, makes you as unsinkable as Jesus is in the face of all life’s storms. Nothing can take you down. Life’s difficulties will not be able to disturb your heart. Temptation will not be able to command your attention. Why? Because by his death and resurrection Jesus proved that he cannot be confounded or overthrown or defeated or fail. He is invincible.

The question remains, What is it to know him? It is to know, from experience, that he cares for you and always will and so you trust him. In other words, it’s knowing, from experience, that Jesus is your friend no matter what. The effect this has on you is invincible peace.

And, What is it to be one with him? It is to share in his calling — to adventure with him in revealing his love to others. The effect this has on you is invincible joy.
