Here’s a well known passage of Scripture:
Proverbs 3:5-6 (CSB)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways know him,
and he will make your paths straight.
You are likely more familiar with the translation that reads, “in all your ways acknowledge him.”
But the translation I read from, the Christian Standard Bible, is here supplying a more literal translation. The Hebrew word really is to know. “In all your ways know him.” And the word implies a close and even intimate acquaintance.
What is meant by that? Here’s an idea: during the day, as you move from one thing to the next, ask Jesus: “Are we together in this? Are we on the same page?” Know him, and he will make your paths straight. That is, he will get you to the fulfillment of God’s purpose for you along the most direct path possible.
