For the end of each day this year, I have a question in my journal for the Lord for which I want to discern an answer: “Jesus, what did you teach me of yourself today or regarding our friendship that made this day better than yesterday?”
One answer for today already came to me on my way to doing my exercise routine at the school. I was thinking about the fact that Jesus made it clear to us that we are to live our lives in 24 hour increments, indicating that each day has enough trouble of it’s own to deal with. So, this is really the only day I have to live. That was followed by this thought: then why not give this day the best I’ve got? That is, my best thoughts, my best prayers, be all there, bless others with everything in me.
It’s like if we knew that we were going to be dead before the day was done, how would we want to have lived the day between this moment and that moment? We would want to be all that we could possibly be in being true to our friendship with Christ, isn’t that right? So, let’s do it.
