Description

In Psalms 103:5 (NIV) we read that God “…satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

I met up with a mom at a big rummage sale. She had her little daughter with her. As she was passing by she noticed me looking her way and said of her daughter, “she wants a toy,” and all but rolled her eyes implying, ya, like we need another toy. But where was she headed with her little girl? To the kitchen section? The clothes section? No! She was headed straight to the toy section.

And yet we can all too easily think that — unlike her — God has no heart for what matters to us? How have we come to this?

We came to this the first time we questioned God’s intentions, the first time we assumed that what matters to us does not matter to God.

Let’s call that what it is: the lie.

Adam and Eve believed it and the whole human family has been duped ever since.

Only now, hooked as we are on our own self-gratifying ways we actually suppress the truth about God to where — when we got our hands on Him some 2,000 years ago — we killed Him. That is how warped we’ve become under the influence of the lie.

O.k., so what is the truth again?

1 John 1:5

“This is the message we have heard from him [Jesus] and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

Let me put it this way:

We must learn to think big, as big as we can possibly imagine regarding the goodness in God's heart toward us. Like one person put it, God is always kinder than you think.

Pray for whatever blessing you will, but then get ready and lift up your eyes, God is going to act and answer at a time and in a way whereby your whole person is healed and everything is set right.

Why? Because we are so precious to God that nothing less than his highest and best will do.
