Someone has said, “The secret of true discipleship is service in little things.”  -God Calling

We can all too easily believe that we would give our lives for Jesus, but the truth as to where we’re at is not found in prospective big sacrifices but in how readily we work with Jesus in the small details of everyday helpfulness. If we are not learning to pay attention to the chances God gives us all day long to do the little stuff for him that makes someone else’s day easier, we don’t have much reason to believe we will rise to the challenge when our lives are on the line.

So practice is in order to suffer through little setbacks cheerfully, overcome impulses to assert ourselves and our way, snuff out our me-first tendency, and welcome chances to be helpful in matters so trivial that we could easily overlook them.

In the words of Jesus, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.” Luke 16:10
