Description

The other day I wrote down for myself what I consider to be some all-important attitudes:

1) towards yourself — because you know what you say and do even though you know better, you know that — along with the apostle Paul — you stand to be the biggest sinner anyone will ever meet.

2) towards others —

(a) because you know yourself, your attitude is such that you find it impossible to look down on anyone else for where they go wrong;

(b) because you know how in need of forgiveness you always are, your attitude is such that you eagerly lavish forgiveness on everyone you know;

(c) because you see others as being infinitely precious to God, your attitude is such that you consider them worthy of whatever God calls you to do in working with him to help them;

(d) because you know that apart from the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, you can do nothing of eternal value, your attitude is such that — behind the scenes of all you say and do — you wholeheartedly rely on the Spirit for his influence to flow through you;

3) towards God — because you know that God always knows best, your attitude is such that you are totally committed to doing what pleases him, whatever the cost.
