In contrast to depending on something we do to be made right with God, the apostle Paul writes in Galatians 6:15 — “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.”
The first and most important posture I think we need in life is that of receptivity to be made a new creation. There is no greater way of honoring God’s highest intentions and desires for us than to receive what he so longs to give — that new self-giving nature which is, in fact, his very own self-giving self. Receptivity, then, could considered our highest and most loving response to God. I suggest that another word for that is worship. We are living a life of worship to the degree we are actively receiving from God all that he longs to give us and do in us.
