Seven All-important Responsibilities in a Growing Friendship With Jesus
- personal worship — praise, thanksgiving, rejoicing in the Lord
- prayer — structured and on the go
- Bible reading and reflection — even if it is just a few verses that you then think through
- corporate worship — gathering with God’s people for worship
- corporate fellowship — being together to think with fellow believers about the kinds of things that strengthen, encourage, comfort, instruct, and help you persevere in your loyalty to Jesus
- sharing God’s blessings — “Lord, show me how to be a cheerful and generous giver.” “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.”2 Corinthians 9:6
- practicing a weekly day of rest — “View the Lord’s Day as a gift from God, not as a duty to be fulfilled… Jesus is saying to you, in effect, “I would like to spend the day with you and give you a special blessing,” - S Cole
