Someone has said that, “The Joy of Heaven is consciousness of God’s Love.” (God At Eventide)
I agree. What could possibly be more joyful than the contemplation of God’s nature? And we read in 1 John 4:16 that his nature is Love.
Now as a synonym for the word love I would suggest the expression pure helpfulness with the added thought that God treasures us, having made us in his own image and likeness.
So when you entertain the thought of God, always think about him within the context of these these primary truths about him:
#1 you are exceedingly precious to him,
#2 all that flows from his heart towards you is pure helpfulness.
And #3 his helpfulness is at work in seeing you become all that he had in mind in creating you, that is, to be the best of friends with you and to make your friendship with him a huge blessing to others everywhere you go and in all you do.
So yes, the more conscious you are of these precious truths not only in heaven but right now, here on earth, the greater will be your joy.
